History
1962
Incorporation of Weihs & Buchmann OHG – Import of fruit preserves and introduction of the brand SONNI for table oils, sheep cheese from Bulgaria
and Greece included in the range of products.
1983
Heinrich Weihs takes over the shares belonging to Mr. Buchmann. Incorporation of the company “Heinrich Weihs, Pflanzenöl- und Nahrungsmittelimport” – sole
proprietor Mr. Heinrich Weihs. Intensive expansion of the range to include olives, olive oils, delicatessen, seasoning sauces, tomato products, etc.
1992
Construction of a new building with on-site warehousing and office space to better accommodate individual customer and supplier requirements.
1995
With Austria’s accession to the EU and the elimination of trade barriers, trade with meat, sausage and dairy products is intensified
1999
Reorganisation as H. M. Weihs GmbH, food import and logistics; Marcus Weihs joins the company as shareholder and manager.
2001-2002
Acquisition and integration of the company Bracharz & Kerber (renowned Austrian cheese importer and trader).
2002
Implementation of the warehouse management system Wamas K featuring, among other things, paperless computer-controlled picking.
2003 and 2004
Distinguished with the
City of Vienna EcoBusinessPlan. The EcoBusinessPlan, the environmental service package of the City of Vienna, is awarded to companies that make investments to improve their eco-efficiency
and thus contribute towards protecting the environment.
2004
EU enlargement. Easier handling of activities with our Hungarian trade partners and intensification of business relations with Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
2005
Member of ESMA (European Sales & Marketing Association), the association of
the European food distributors.
